I just lost a client on the Christmas Day.

I'm a social media manager that's why Im required to report everyday. So I asked if I could spend my time with my family. He insisted and said he cannot work with me. Hahaha. I'm sorry but the reason why I entered freelancing is because I have to spend more time with my family especially my 4 months old baby. I felt bad because he cannot understand. Wala atang Christmas hahaha kulang sa aruga. Anyway, advice ko lang never choose work over your family.

Haha, that's too much!

You did the right thing!

Pag may nawala, may darating. Even better. Yaan mo na siya, though disappointing nga but hey it can't compensate the time with your family.

Oh my! Such a client is sad.

True!! Family first...aanhin mu ang malaking kita kung unti2x nmn nawawasak family mu dhl wala kanang yime sa kanila...very wise decision...

Ok lng yan makakahanap ka ulit, importante di mo pinalampas ang pagkakataon with your family in this holiday season, family first.

Okay lang yan mamsh. Family first ❤️

Likewise here - almost 2 years ako kay client hangang matapos ung bahay kong pinatayu! Biglang end da contract kasi absendt noong xmas eve..de bali nalang basta family fist n tapos na ung bahay at least ung kita ko napunta lhat2 sa baha.

Alam mo sis. hindi sa masaya ako dahil nawalan ka ng work pero masaya ako that everything happens for a reason means nyan may mas malaking opportunity waiting for you. I lost client a month before Christmas. But I got a job double the pay from the one I lost. I also have the chance to get an upgrade for my car! I am not saying this para ipagyabang sayo. Godbless you!

Family is the reason why we work. Good decision !!!

I still work. Kasi while nag party party nag laptop ako. Thankful compared nasa CC pa ako. Tuloy ang hanapbuhay kahit saan basta may Net.

1st choice family/kids 2nd work

Very brave! Not everything you lose is a loss anyway. And yea, family and sanity over work ALWAYS! You can always look for another work but not another family.

You will find a new one. Merry Christmas!

Di kasi sila kasing family-oriented natin. We also have to take into account that cultural differences will always be present, but I think it doesn't necessarily mean that people like your client are bad people. It's just a matter of priorities. Anyway, family will always be the most important to us. Ang clients napapalitan, ang pamilya, forever mo makakaramay. Happy Holidays sa inyo and naway mas marami pang blessings and dumating sa bagong taon!

super agree..

Agree! Family first, it’s also my son’s first Christmas and my clients are all understanding.

You've made the right decision. Your family must be your priority 👍🏻

True! Defeats the purpose of working from home. You'll get a more considerate client I'm sure.

Aq din un isa qng client ngpaalam aq mgccelebrate ng Christmas eve hinire nya kse q 23 ng gabi taz 24 umga ngpaalam aq ayaw pmyag need mya daw list q pero ngccelebrate pa din aq sa isip q bala k dyan qng hndi mo maintindhan aun sav p need nya daw someone dedicated kse nga wla pa q list nung 24 ng gabi..,awa nmn ng dyos xa p humingi ng sorry😂 nung nlaman nya un bagong strategy sa list tpos ng thank you pa 😂😂 aun ngaun lang aq ngwork

Ok lang yan. May iba pang darating para sayo. Mas importante mag spend time with family over work.

I admire you for knowing your true priorities mommy. :) I'm a mom of 2 babies at agree ako na kaya nga natin pinili ng homebased freelancing para makapag spend ng time sa family. I believe you've made the right decision. Wishing you can get another better opportunity sa mas mabait at caring na client. 😊

Correct. We choose family over work! Marami pang fish sa dagat.

Sorry to be a debbie downer but we should not label them as "kulang sa aruga" or "di lab ng mama nya", maybe it just so happens they do not celebrate Christmas, so the "show" must go on. Anyway, good for us freelancers we are able to choose, and assert, our own sched. Unless it is not stipulated in your contract that you must be available 7days a week or must meet the weekly hours qouta, there's no issue really. We can let go, and find another project! Merry Christmas!

Hope you will find another client, have a blessed 2020😇

I had a client dati... mabait... kaso magkaiba talaga kami ng ways... hindi kami magpangabot kaya ayun... pinakawalan ko.... sabi nga "not meant to be". wahahahha

I agree. May nga clients tlgng ganyan. Nga slave driver. Not your lost anyway. Rather, it’s an opportunity for you to find the right one.

Maybe di talaga sila nag cecelebrate ng Christmas? Kaya siguro hindi nila maintindihan yung cultural significance ng Christmas para sainy., if they cannot see na importante and Christmas para sainyo, then it's not meant to be.

Faced the same dillema maski premium client kapa kung toxic ka naman aba'y we can part ways hindi tayo bati tseh! 😂

Good for you ..d nwalan at bbalik din sau yan mas mgnda ang plano ni Lord sau..God bless and HAPPY new year..

Don't be disappointed. It's his loss and not yours.

True. Family first. I used to have 5 clients. 2 full times and 3 part times. I was earning 6 digits monthly pero grabe din ang struggle, I cant even sleep properly and dont have much time with my family. Nagtatampo minsan si hubby. So yun, I decided to retain my 2 clients yung long term ko na clients and remove the other 3. Makahappy lang. I am earning less pero I have more time with them.

Sobrang blessed ko sa client ko. 2 Christmas na ko with him and during holiday season, ineextend nya ang deadlines ko para daw may time ako to have fun with my family. I'm sure new opportunities will come your way. Merry Christmas!

May 16 hours kapa para mag adjust on Christmas Day. Always think of a WIN-WIN SOLUTION. Being ADAPTABLE is kelangan bilang freelancer. Your work is a blessing, just like your baby, so learn to balance it, and not putting priorities. Hindi po ako galit or nega na tao, haha, just saying lang po.

That's too bad. Swerte ko na lang siguro kasi yung clients ko they understood what family time means and let ne have a break for Christmas and New Year!

in other country, 25Dec is just another ordinary day, unlike Thanksgiving and Halloween na talagang sine-celebrate nila.

Happy to see this kind of posts to better understand how it is different working as a corp slave. Flexibility and suitability are also important din pala sa freelancing. Hoping that one day I can also pursue this para ma achieve ko naman yung ibang goals ko in life hindi yung nagpre pretend ako na may "work-life balance" coz in reality it is just an imagination. Happy holidays po sa lahat! 🥰

I feel you. I experienced that years ago

He's a bad business owner. Regardless if he celebrates Christmas or not, it's the Holidays! Anyway, just what Ford said, "A business that only makes money is a poor business." Not your loss, you made the wisest decision. 😊

Swerte ko sa client ko sa onlinejob xa pa ng insist na magleave ako for holidays kea aun 2 weeks akong leave with pay 😍

True!! We should know our top priority 🙃

We work homebase because we want to have income as well as to look after and be with our love ones. Yung clients parang dating kung Hindi match at walang understanding Hindi tlaga magwowork. Importante yung we know we deliver good result for their business and they also understand that we priorities our family especially on holidays.

I'm still on the process of learning the Freelancers industry super hirap mag switch from BPO world to Freelance world, pero i think you made the right decision to leave the project with him. Remember, you are partners so dapat give and take. Hindi tayo robot. They should also respect Philippine Holidays.

That's so inconsiderate.

I also had to work until the 24th. Yun ay para maximized ang kikitain ko, kasi ang next na shift is on the 2nd of January pa. So 1 week's worth na sahod ang mawawala sa akin by next cut off. Malaking aray! Kaya tiis-tiis lang. Saka nakatulong pa rin akong mag-ayos for the Noche Buena from time to time kahit papano. 😁 Like the others have said, inistrategize mo lang sana. Hindi ka naman 24 hours na nagwowork siguro? Unless that client was shitty anyway. 😉

I have 3 clients now and i seldom take a leave so nag pa alam na ako for 24-25 and 31-1 all were happy to approve my request and said enjoy 😉

Totally agree. Plus when you have positioning locked and loaded, you'll NEVER ever work with clients that aren't congruent to you.

YOU WILL ALWAYS, ALWAYS HAVE A PICK and the upper hand. And they'd be glad that you do. These clients trust your expertise so no small-potato headaches that come with low-end clients.

You made the right choice Thara, Merry Christmas!

Thank you for the kind words. New year and christmas spread the love! More clients more fun! But remember money is important but time di na mababalik yun. ❤️

Did you ask for a holiday leave in advance? I have 2 kids din. Kung way in advance ang paalam at d pumayag si client, may chance tayo to propose an alternative sa kanila like advanced work etc.

Family first. Money can be earned. Yung time di mo na maibabalik yan.

Your client's loss!😀😀

Glad for you! Cooperation is based on respect for each other.😄😄
