Position Summary: Working out of their home, the World Language Live Tutor will “virtually” manage a synchronous virtual classroom utilized by students from Pearson and Connections Academy schools. The World Language Live Tutor will be responsible for working with students to develop understanding of the Spanish language using specifically designed activities. World Language Live Tutors will be responsible for monitoring student activity within the virtual classroom at all times, and providing support/feedback.

This part-time position is for the 2019-2020 school year and is a 10-month position. Possible shifts would fall within the following time frames: Monday through Thursday 3:00 pm. - 11:00 p.m. EST and Friday 1:00 pm. - 4:00 p.m. EST. Tutors will be working with students in the Elementary, Middle School and High School levels.

Primary Responsibilities: Communicate with students through the use of LiveLesson® Monitor students’ language proficiency and vocabulary recognition throughout tutoring sessions

General Responsibilities:

  • Working in the LiveLesson® room, facilitate student completion of a series of pronunciation and vocabulary activities;
  • Monitor student language proficiency while in tutoring sessions;
  • Provide students with grade and feedback reflective of student progress;
  • Assist students with minor technical issues; Work with Program Manager and tutors to develop consistency within LiveLessons®; and Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • K-12 Teaching experience preferred;
  • Must be able to speak (standardized accent required), read and write Spanish fluently;
  • Experience with online instruction is a plus;
  • Prior experience as tutor is a plus;
  • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft OS, MS Office and Google Suite);
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; and
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment.
